Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park newsletter, May 2026

May continued to demonstrate the strong momentum of conservation, regional cooperation, and community engagement at Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park. The Park participated in the annual Tri-National de la Sangha (TNS) technical meeting, strengthening transboundary cooperation for wildlife protection and the monitoring of community development projects. In the field, anti-poaching efforts were reinforced through MIKE (Monitoring the Illegal Killing of Elephants) training, while research teams documented new observations of gorillas, chimpanzees, and forest elephants.

At the same time, community-focused initiatives continued through environmental education activities in the schools of Makao and Bomassa, efforts to strengthen natural resource governance, healthcare services, and the development of community-based tourism and local infrastructure. Together, these achievements reflect the Park's continued commitment to science-based conservation, collaboration, and improving the well-being of local communities.
